Finishing

Unless otherwise stated or agreed, we supply our doors in a natural state. If we are fitting your door for you, we would recommend that you get a coat of your desired finish on the door as soon as possible after fitting. This will protect your door from becoming marked and also protect it from the effects of the weather.

If you are fitting the door yourself, or having it fitted by someone other than us we recommmend that this is done as a soon as possible after you take delivery of the door. Again we would recommend that you get a coat of your desired finish on the door as soon as possible after fitting.

If you have agreed that we will apply a finish to the door in the workshop we use one of the products from the Sikkens range of finishes - for exterior doors, Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 which has a UV stabiliser to protect your door from the potentially harmful effects of the sun. For internal doors Sikkens Cetol BL Unitop Clear.

Alternatively, for period joinery we recommend the use of Holkham Linseed Oil Paints.
